16th of January 2013

CIE leads research project reaxity, focusing on novel mixed reality services and applications which combine content and technology in a user centered way. Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, funds the project, as a strategic opening to address novel innovative mixed and virtual reality solutions for future cities.

The project is an important outcome of CIE's strategy on 3D Internet research. It also demonstrates our fruitful collaboration between OIA (Oulu Innovation Alliance) members", says Mika Ylianttila, Director of CIE.

reaxity is conducted in close cooperation between University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences. Participants at the University of Oulu are Center for Internet Excellence, Intelligent Systems Group, Media Team, Center for Machine Vision Research, Biomedical Engineering Research Group, Department of Architecture, Department of Geography and Oulu Business School.

reaxity is built upon existing competence and infrastructure of partner network that provides a unique, extensive and open mixed reality space for multidisciplinary research and development. We expect reaxity to be a start for future research programs and lead to new business opportunities with the help of participating companies.
