Dr. Sc. (Tech.), docent Mika Ylianttila has been appointed as a part-time professor at the Department of Communications Engineering (DCE). The three-year Professorship beginning 1st January, 2013, specializes in broadband communications networks and systems, in particular wireless Internet technologies.

Mika Ylianttila received his Doctoral Degree on Communications Engineering at the University of Oulu in 2005. He has worked as a researcher and professor at the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering. He is the director of the Center for Internet Excellence (CIE) research and innovation unit.

Ylianttila’s research will focus on the Future Internet network techniques and applications. “Future 3D Internet will be experienced using mobile and wireless devices, as we go towards Internet of Things, where everything is connected. My role as professor will strenghten our research, give more opportunities and increase collaboration with wireless Internet industry and research community” Ylianttila says.
